Bloody Muddle
Written by Joel Horwood
Directed by Destiny Ekaragha
Starring: Zawe Ashton and Hugh Skinner
Story
Carl and Katie are the kind of people that never normally meet. They're also the kind of people that retreat to the toilets when they need to sort themselves out. But some muddles need more than a big mirror and the smell of cleanliness. Sometimes they need a nose bleed.
History of the project
In 2008 The Hospital Club set up The Creatives in Residence Scheme to bring together young, talented creatives who are at the threshold of greatness. In 2010 two of these creatives were Destiny and Joel who joined forces with Manmade Films to make a film on a very small budget and in one day. The result is a touching and funny account of how two people meet and how it changes their lives.
A huge thank you to The Hospital Club and to Lolo Chambovet, who is the Philanthropic Manager there, for making the film possible in every way.
Biographies of the Creatives Involved
Destiny Ekaragha
Destiny: The third child of six children born to Nigerian parents. She was born and still lives in London.
Watching films has been one of Destiny's favourite pasttimes for most of her existence, the first film being A Nightmare on Elm Street. Her relationship with the dark was never quite the same, however neither was her relationship with film. The idea of escaping to a world other than her own was very compelling.
Destiny has since spent most of her time immersed in all things film related whether it be script writing, directing or drooling over Johnny Depp. She studied film in college and university and got her first runner job on a film called Wimbledon.
After various runner jobs, including a stint at BBC Films, Destiny teamed up with producer Tamana Bleasdale to make her first short film Tight Jeans which she both wrote and directed. The film was funded by the Southern Exposure branch of Film London and was officially selected by the 2008 Times BFI London Film Festival and voted best short by The Observer.
Destiny shot two more short films in 2009 with producer Tamana Bleasdale. The Park was again selected by BFI London and premiered at the 2009 London Film Festival.
In 2010 Destiny completed shooting on her COMING UP film The Future WAGS of Great Britain for RDF/Channel4 which was transmitted on C4 in the Autumn of that year.
Destiny is attached to direct the feature film GONE TOO FAR adapted from the stageplay of the same name by Bola Agbaje with Poisson Rouge Pictures. She is also attached to direct the independent feature, Charlie Ferrari by Tess Morris & David Alison for Jeva Films.
Destiny has recently been awarded funding from the UK Film Council to develop her original feature project.
